In 2026, we invite you to join I Am We Are for a five-day Cultural Immersion Trip in South Africa, offering a unique opportunity to experience the rich culture and vibrant history of Johannesburg, Cape Town and their surrounding areas, while directly supporting IAWA’s youth empowerment initiatives through meaningful community service projects and authentic interactions with the young people in our programmes.
Our celebration is more than a tour; it’s an opportunity to learn about South Africa's inspiring history, connect with local communities, and engage with the youth whose lives your support has impacted. From exploring Soweto and the Apartheid Museum to enjoying a safari game drive and participating in meaningful community engagement activities, each moment of this journey is designed for meaningful immersion. The highlight of the trip will be a dedicated community engagement day focused on meaningful service activities and authentic interactions with the young people in our programmes, creating shared moments of learning, connection, and impact.
Trip Highlights (september 26 - October 01, 2026)
Apartheid Museum: Understand South Africa’s journey from apartheid to freedom.
Soweto Tour: Visit historical sites, including Nelson Mandela’s home and Hector Pieterson Museum.
Safari: Spot elephants, giraffes, lions and more on an exhilarating game drive at Pilanesburg National Park.
Cultural Village Experience: Experience traditional dances, attire, and cuisine from South Africa’s diverse ethnic groups.
Community Experience: Join us for an unforgettable day of hands-on community service and meaningful interactions with young people, celebrating a decade of empowerment, growth, and community impact.
optional Cape Town Extension (October 01-05, 2026)
For those wishing to continue their journey, explore Cape Town’s stunning landscapes and history, including a visit to Robben Island, wine tastings in Stellenbosch, and a breathtaking ascent of Table Mountain.
