In honor of Giving Tuesday, taking place on Tuesday, November 30th this year, we are launching our Monthly Giving program, the Ubuntu Circle. One translation for I Am, We Are’s guiding philosophy, ubuntu, is interconnectedness. The Ubuntu Circle recognizes our need for communal support to empower our youth or as the African proverb states, “it takes a village to raise a child.” Ubuntu Circle members join us in investing in our youth by pledging support for as little as $15 per month.

With the youth employment rate averaging 51%, South Africa has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world. I Am, We Are believes in the power of empowering youth with the fortitude and skills to overcome the barriers they face pursuing their dreams. Yet, many young, talented youth lack the resources to reach their full potential - and we need your help to assist them through our youth empowerment programs. Your commitment to join us is an investment in the future of our young leaders and allows us to continue creating a nurturing environment where tomorrow’s leaders are cultivated.
When you become a member of our Ubuntu Circle, you pledge to donate as little as $15 a month. Your monthly giving will have an incredible long-term impact. Your ongoing support will enable us to maintain core areas of our operations and support monthly programmatic expenses such as:
purchasing tablets for IAWA Ambassadors to access our virtual Morafe Leadership Programme
procuring data/internet service for our program participants
providing on-one wellbeing and trauma support counseling sessions
paying stipends to fellows or recent university graduates to facilitate Morafe Leadership Programme
purchasing petrol to visit families
